About Tracking track

You may have noticed your dog has a keen sense of smell – 100,000 times stronger than humans – and it makes him naturally “nosey.” That strong sense of smell is the reason why dogs are well suited for emergency search-and-rescue work. Other scent-careers include bomb and narcotics detection in Law Enforcement as well as medical alert service dogs.

So what do you do with your ever-nosey dog? Get him involved in AKC Tracking where he can sniff and smell to his heart’s content and demonstrate his natural ability to recognize and follow a scent. It’s a perfect way for you and your dog to enjoy many hours together, outside in the fresh air, honing his natural abilities.

Tracking at BOTC

All dogs have the ability to track. We have several expert BOTC members who are always willing to offer help to individuals who wish to start their dog in the AKC sport of tracking. Contact us for information.

Each year BOTC hosts a Spring TDX tracking test and a Combined TD/TDX tracking test. Check back for premiums in the spring.
